Welcome to ACF General Surgery (ST1) Recuitment 2012

KSS, in partnership with the NIHR, will be managing the recruitment into ACF ST1 General Surgery posts in 2012. We are estimating approximately 340 applications for 15 posts (STC). Applications to ACF General Surgery (ST1) will be separate to those of Core Surgery, although clinical interviews and offers for ACF will run alongside Core Surgery recruitment.

This national process gives the applicant the ability to make a single application and then preference the Deaneries or Units of Application (UoA) in order of choice.  An applicant may preference up to 4 UoA's.  Their application will then be shortlisted by up to 4 deaneries who were preferenced. However, candidates will only be eligible to be invited to an academic interview by up to 2 deaneries. Should a candidate be shortlisted in all 4 deaneries, they will only be invited to their top 2 preferenced UoAs for an academic interview.

Candidates are offered up to two Academic interviews (subject to eligibility) and if successful, will be invited to up to two Clinical interviews which will coincide with the Core Surgery interviews. Offers will be separate but released at the same time as Core Surgery and candidates can receive an offer in both Core Surgery and ACF if successful at interview at both.  A centralised offers process is in place giving applicants the up to date information needed to make an informed decision quickly and fairly.

The KSS Core Surgery National Recruitment Office (CSNRO) will provide support if applicants experience any problems with their application and will be available during office hours for the duration of the process.

The ‘How to Apply’ section of the website will give applicants information about what to consider when making applications, ordering of preferences, key dates, how to prepare ahead of the interview and how the offers will be coordinated.

You can apply through the Intrepid Pathway portal here: http://www.intrepidpathway.co.uk/

Good luck!
